The British High Commissioner to Tanzania Her Excellency Diane Louise Corner paid a courtesy call to the Minister for Water and Irrigation of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Prof. Mark J. Mwandosya on 4th December 2009 in his Office at Maji Ubungo.
Major issues discussed:
(1) Progress on the Cooperative Framework Agreement: Hon. Mwandosya informed the Ambassador that much progress has been made. About 99% of the work has been completed. This is the first pillar. Climate change not withstanding, experts assert that there is enough water resources for everybody in the Basin. This is the second pillar. With the third pillar, the Desire to cooperate, we are hopeful that the Cooperative Framework Agreement will be brought to conclusion soon.
(2) Climate Change, Environment, Land Use and Population Growth: It is hoped that Copenhagen will come up with tangible outputs may be inform of a Binding Treaty. DFJD will sponsor two journalists who won an essay competition on climate change, and Deo Mfugale, Chairman of Journalist Environmental Association of Tanzania (JET).

3. Mwenyeheri Ndimbo, Assistant to the Minister.
Her Excellency High Commissioner expressed her appreciation for meeting the Honorable Minister on the eve of the l0th Nile Basin Initiative Celebrations.
